This is no ordinary album - all members of The Stars band have learning difficulties. Their self-penned album, We Are Stars - We Think Differently, is a true labour of love and the result of two and half years’ hard work for the band.
A mix of musical influences, from punk to new wave, along with the performers' life experiences and insights have inspired the 10 track album, which includes a version of Radiohead’s Creep.
No strangers to the Sheffield music scene, The Stars band have appeared at the city’s Tramlines Festival and at Under The Stars - a monthly night set up by, and ran for, young adults with learning disabilities which now attracts up to 600 attendees.
We live in a society that can make too much of our differences, The Stars band don’t. They think and work together and share and celebrate their individuality. Under the Stars supports people’s right to be different, uniting in work, music and the freedom to express ourselves, no matter what challenges are put in our way.
